Plan to attend the Annual Meeting of the National Association of Public Child Welfare Administrators on June 5-7, 2015 for the Annual Meeting of the National Association of Public Child Welfare Administrators. (NAPCWA) This annual meeting includes administrators, policymakers, researchers, and other stakeholders from the public and private sectors joining to share, learn about, discuss, and strategize on integrating practice, policy, research, and information technology to ensure that children and families are "better" as a result of child welfare's interventions.

We’re pleased to confirm the NAPCWA 2015 Pre-Conference Symposium for all state and local child welfare and human service leaders. On Thursday June 4th, 2015, 1:00– 5:00 p.m., NAPCWA will host a series of conversations with key Congressional and Administration Officials:

 

Opening Discussion. The National Commission to Eliminate Child Abuse and Neglect Fatalities

CECANF is charged with studying the use of child protective services, the best practices in preventing fatalities, and the effectiveness of programs operating under Title IV-E and Title XX subtitle A of the Social Security Act. The Commission will develop a national strategy and recommendations for reducing fatalities resulting from child abuse and neglect.

 

Mid-Afternoon. Senior Congressional Staff, House Ways and Means Human Resources Subcommittee and Senate Finance Committee

Legislative Committee Staff who have oversight responsibility for key child welfare and human services programs will provide insight on Child Welfare in the 114th Congress. This session will be your opportunity to ask questions and offer your insight and experience as Congress considers reforms.

 

Closing Session. JooYeun Chang, Associate Commissioner, Administration on Children, Youth, and Families, Children’s Bureau

Once again NAPCWA will host our federal partners for a government to government discussion on the administration’s child welfare priorities. Attendees will share their experiences on the implications of new and proposed regulatory changes and outline strategies to build a stronger federal, state, local, and tribal partnership.
